Lorna Carlson, affectionately known as "Cookie," is a tenacious real estate broker, property manager and US Army veteran with a remarkable and multifaceted career. Originally from the Chicago area, Cookie relocated to Colorado in 1997 with her husband and their three children after his military retirement. While she has called Aurora her home for over 15 years, her career has taken her across the Denver Metro area - touching many lives.
Her professional career journey began with her service in the US Army, where she cultivated a foundation of discipline and leadership. After her service, she supported her husband's military career while raising their three children. Driven by a passion for making a difference, Cookie earned a Bachelor's degree and transitioned into a career as an elementary school teacher. She dedicated several years to teaching special education students within Aurora Public Schools, exemplifying her commitment to education and the special needs population.
Cookie’s career eventually transitioned to the corporate sector, where she excelled in recruiting and human resources for more than a decade. However, a transformative moment arose when she had to confront her trauma, grief, and her own disabilities, signaling the start of a new chapter in her life.
Recognizing her strengths and the lessons learned from her experiences, Cookie took a bold step into the realm of creating Veterans Property Management and her non-profit Veteran Women United. Passionate about creating supportive environments for veterans, she launched her own company, focusing on providing affordable and accessible housing solutions to both buyers and renters.
Her heartfelt message emphasizes not only the importance of financial literacy and property management but also the healing power of stability and community for those grappling with their own struggles. By weaving together her personal narrative with practical insights into investment properties, Cookie has inspired many to view real estate not just as a financial opportunity, but as a pathway to empowerment.
Cookie is actively raising awareness about the impact of trauma, particularly among women, veterans, and first responders. She supports clients and investors from all backgrounds in property management and anything real estate.
